How to solve the Buddy List issue

Hi everyone! Since many people claim their buddy lists aren\'t working properly, I decided to make a step by step tutorial to fix it. Please note that you will only be able to add someone if both Buddy Lists are properly working --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FOR WINDOWS XP USERS: 1. Click \"Start\", \"Settings\" and then \"Control panel\" 2. Find the \"Windows Firewall\" shortcut and double-click it 3. Click the \"Advanced\" tab, and under the \"Network connections settings\" task, click \"Settings...\" to your default network connection 4. It should open a window with a list of several programs, in wich you\'ll click \"Add...\" to open new ports 5. In the description box, type \"GunBound\" 6. In the \"Name or IP address\" box, type 127.0.0.1 7. In the \"External port\" and \"Internal port\" boxes, type 8351,and click TCP 8. Repeat the steps 4 to 7 to add the ports 8352 and 8353 9. Now add the same ports, clicking UDP instead of TCP 10. You should be now with 6 new ports (8351, 8352 and 8353 for both TCP and UDP) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FOR WINDOWS 7 USERS #1 (thanks to FBer): Start > Control Panel > System and Security > Windows Firewall 1. Advanced Settings on left side 2. Inbound Rules on left panel 3. \"New Rule\" on right panel 4. \"What type of rule would you like to create?\" Port > Next 5. Does this rule apply to TCP or UDP? TCP 6. Specific local ports: 8351-8353 > Next 7. Allow the connection 8. Check all three boxes (Domain, Private, Public) > Next 9. Name (GunBound TCP) > Finish 10. Repeat 3-9 for UDP instead of TCP If it\'s still not working, try to re-login GunBound and then add each other at the same time, e.g. go to the same channel and countdown 3, 2, 1 and then push Add. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FOR WINDOWS 7 USERS #2 (thanks to Fleshpooner on topic #464): Step 1 Click the icon at the bottom right of the screen that tells you what router your connected too so you can get to the network page, then click the windows firewall link. http://oi56.tinypic.com/2wg9nrs.jpg Step 2 Go to advanced settings http://oi54.tinypic.com/2f03j9h.jpg Step 3 Click on inbound rules, you may notice my firewall is completely disabled. im not using windows 7 right now, but i remember there was something like "allow a program". then it should ask the ports you want to open and so on

For windows 7 You have to do it in a different way.
Fire-Wall -> Advanced Settings/Parameters -> Incoming trafic
rules -> New Rules. And Add the 6 ports. Sorry if the
words aren't exactly the one, i'm simply
traslate
it from the French, Hoping that will help windows 7 user.

for windows 7 i went into the firewall advanced thing where it allows you to make rules and what not, and i found 2 gunbound rules with yield signs and i disabled them and the buddy list works now.

===FOR WINDOWS 7 USERS==

Start > Control Panel > System and Security > Windows Firewall

1. Advanced Settings on left side
2. Inbound Rules on left panel
3. "New Rule" on right panel
4. "What type of rule would you like to create?"
Port > Next
5. Does this rule apply to TCP or UDP?
TCP
6. Specific local ports: 8351-8353 > Next
7. Allow the connection
8. Check all three boxes (Domain, Private, Public) > Next
9. Name (Gunbound TCP) > Finish
10. Repeat 3-9 for UDP instead of TCP
11. Login to Gunbound and add your buddies!

so the buddylist issue is firewall related? i'm using Zone Alarm firewall...it doesn't have same settings feature as windows firewall :(

Windows Vista here...Fix did not work. Its really a pain coordinating games with our group of ppl without a functioning buddy list. Please fix in an patch update somehow....some way.

Hace 4 minutosSebastian Alcaraz 1. vayan al panel de control en inicio 2. encuentren donde dice \"Windows Firewall\" denle doble click 3. click en \"opciones avanzadas\" al lado de excepciones, y debajo de donde dice configuracion de conecciones de red hagan click en configuraciones...\" 4. te va a abrir una ventana con varias cosas, dale click a donde dice agregar 5. en la barra de descripcion de servicio, escribi\"Gunbound\" 6. en la barra de nombre o dirrecion IP\" escribi 127.0.0.1 7. en las barras de numero de puerto interno y numero de puerto externo, escriban 8351,y click en TCP 8.vuelvan a repetir los pasos 4 a 7 y agregan los puertos 8352 and 8353 (le dan aceptar y agreguan de nuevo solo que en ves de escribir 8351 escriben 8352 en interno y externo, luego aceptar de nuevo, volver a agregar y escriben 8353) 9. ahora agreguen otra ves los 3 mismos puertos (8351.8352.8353) pero en lugar de marcar TCP marcan UDP 10. cuando terminen con todo deberian poder ver 6 puertos en total (8351, 8352 y 8353 para los dos TCP and UDP)

@HADESY, doesnt matter if your in win 7 64,after your done in this process try to disable both external and internal PORT of GB,the added PORTS. if it works,let me know please,hehe!!! good luck^^

What if you use norton? Or just don\'t use Windows Firewall? I got notron, and I added my nephew somehow, but we could buddy eachother before. One day it just happened? Now I\'m trying to invite my friend but he\'s not getting the invite. Does that mean that it\'s because of my friends settings?

some gm plz try fix this permenantly, i mean whats the point even if i fix it other people in the game wont due to lack of knowledge in computers/laziness etc and i wont be able to add them anyway.. it just cant be like this it must be fixed..
