A few years ago I've discovered that a lot of community free board screenshots were preserved on Archive.org. This also caused me to find a fuck ton of GunBound Beta Screenshots. Unlike the usual screenshots you see on google or news articles these are screenshots of humans being humans. No PR shit, no bullshit. People having a good time.
I have compiled a good amount of them a while ago, and then kept say I would release them at some point. Now I'll do it. They are organized in folders based on map, section, etc. They are from many versions through the beta but started around the version where SS got added.
Honestly, when I see these screenshots I sometimes can tell why TH was so badly received by the koreans. To me so many things just look better here or have more functions, where final TH is all blue and was seen as a rip of of Fortress2 "blue" which too was very blue.
Anyway, here's some additional info
- In GunBound Beta you could see which mobile each person had, as well as their tag mobile at the result screen. This got scrapped
- In GunBound Beta the key holder had an additional colour on the result screen. Example the screenshot above "doosolkim" was the keyholder
- In GunBound Beta and a bit after beta someone could change the way spawns work. You had "mixed" "east vs west" or "random" only "random" ended up survive
- In GunBound Beta you could disable slots completely after dying in tag and solo as room option
- In GunBound Beta and a bit after there was the "Land" weather which caused 15% bigger holes. This got scrapped and replaced with Thor
- Gunbound Beta had way more soundtracks, some that returned in Season 2. When the version with SS got released, a lot of songs got removed
- GunBound Beta had a functional a sate dual + and didn't had the tag glitch yet. Latter got introduced in final TH and then never fixed until WC
- GunBound Beta had a functional F11 to take screenshots as seen in some... screenshots. For some reason early final TH at least in GIS broke it
- GunBound Beta had a functional chat bar in the waiting room. Final TH had it removed for a really long while until they added it back with a button
- In GunBound Beta you had a chat notification + a cute buddy icon when someone logged in (or logged out); also seen in some screenshots
- In GunBound Beta you saw a Buddy icon in the World List when a buddy is present. This got removed in final TH and re-introduced in WC
If you really think about it, final TH is honestly a downgrade. We are nostalgic for it because we don't know better. For the koreans the final TH layout and positioning is extremely similar as Fortress2. Even the mobile select layout is almost identical:

The beta in this case is just way more original. I am not sure if comsik and their team were just afraid of Fortress2 (their old game) or if something else was up, but yeah. Final TH flopped hard in korea. By WC koreans would log in on the same servers as GIS; only difference be the client being in Korean.
