Hi all,
You can now try MagicPunk (multiplayer!) at https://magicpunk.fly.dev
MagicPunk isn’t quite Gunbound, but the original game was made by people who were very close to Gunbound.
Internally, the engine is very similar to Gunbound even if the gameplay is completely different. The file formats, behavior and code appear to be largely copied from Gunbound. The usual quirks such as low frame rates, 16 bit colors, and the distinct pixel font are all present.
The backend is rebuilt purely from reverse engineering the one client that was found on Archive.org. It’s rough, but should work well enough to let you experience MagicPunk as it was launched in 2004.
(If this isn’t the right place for MagicPunk, please feel free to move or delete the thread. I stumbled upon this place when searching for the string “comsik” and felt like this might be the same crowd that would find this interesting)
Cheers
